The Guest is a site-specific audio-visual installation with a soundtrack from Samuel Kerridge. The installation was originally installed in an old underground spa, space once glorious but now abandoned and distressing. Still it provides a good shelter for last humans when either utopian or distopian scenarios came true, making biological life obsolete. There is a conscious force present casting shadows and deconstructing the perception of reality, travelling around the last inhabitants, maybe a reason why they are hiding here.

Forest is an interactive mixed reality installation placing the visitor using Oculus headset into a digital representation of a czech forest. The virtual and real space are interconnected via fragment of what is left, creating slightly disturbing experience of outer body presence, watching yourself wandering in a digitally preserved ecosystem. Is this the future of the nature?

The installation by Andrej Boleslavský and David Sivý is an excerpt of concept Laboratory of Silence, which focused on idea of artificial nature and dystopic vision of nature protection possibilities, created for Czech pavilion at Expo 2015 Milano in co-operation with Full Capacity ltd and architectonics studio R/FRM..

The installation consists of white space with tree painted white, kinect sensor creating real-time representation of the user, Oculus virtual reality head-set, speakers and a PC

Project ArchiBio project phenomena that surround us everywhere, yet they remain invisible. The growth of bacteria, fungi and plants, life of an ant colony – the beauty of these phenomena escapes our attention, because they exist on a different scale or in a different time beyond our perception. ArchiBio video-mapping unfolds the beauty of microscopic worlds enlarged to a giant size in the public space. It poses a question whether the relationship between nature and technology really is antagonistic, or whether the man-made technologies represent just another branch on the evolutionary tree. It is fascinating that all life forms around us share the same operating system with us, humans, DNA. What will happen once our technologies learn how to cooperate with it? Will genetic modification bring destruction or progress?
The project is a commission for Signal festival Prague. The preparatory work included creative, technology and scientific research. Author used 3D scanning technologies, 3D printers and computer-controlled cutting machines to make special cultivation pots the shape of which will copy chosen architecture.

The software for rendering the most beautiful shapes is called DNA.

The ArchiBio project discovers phenomena that surround us everywhere, yet they remain invisible. The growth of bacteria, fungi and plants, life of an ant colony – the beauty of these phenomena escapes our attention, because they exist on a different scale or in a different time beyond our perception. ArchiBio videomapping unfolds the beauty of microscopic worlds enlarged to a giant size in the public space.

Could computer games help rehabilitation? Yes, we think they can.
During the cooperation with rehabilitation group Ambulatorium we enhanced their medical device called Verticalizer with a computer game. The exercising is gamified, thus creating higher engagement and motivation for physical activity. Patient is no longer aware of a boring set of movement, instead he plays computer game.
We used modified game ArmA 2, we demilitarized the game by removing all the references to the military theme of the game. Instead of shooting the enemies, it enables the user to navigate through a beautiful and hyper realistic virtual landscape, one of the most elaborate in the world of gaming. thus stimulating the need for movement.
VVVV is used to interface the device and ArmA 2, it also operates the start-up sequence of the installation.
The work was made within the project CATCH. software developed by CIANT, hardware by Marek Peca, device by Ambulatorium, game ArmA 2 by Bohemia Interactive.

Generative datasculpture visualizing Google Analytics data about visit of iMal.org webpage. The data represents one year cycle with events being visualised as a peaks or falls. Significant events are visible, some of them caused by activity towards public, such as job offers, festival, some caused by external factors, such as holidays, season and weather changes. We could even see weeks, day activity and its significant drop during the night. Even though the object is formed by the data of a technical nature, it still looks very organic as it reflects biorhythms of a community following the activities of the selected cultural organisation.

From the top the object resembles iris of a human eye. The name of the artwork is also an metaphor of how we are observed by a complex computational systems. We all know we are under watch, but we do not understand the implications. Even innocent tools like Google Analytics could be used to invade one’s privacy with harmful consequences.

Goal was to create an artwork that is generated by an algorithm hence raising awareness of expanding creative abilities of information systems, however soon after I realized there is also practical use to the project. While Google Analytics provides flexible tools for data visualisation, 3D printing the statistics data adds one more dimension and allows for better insight and understanding of the dataset, hidden patterns become obvious.

<iframe src="https://sketchfab.com/models/8abf9569739f48c7a739dc19ac8c8e0a/embed" width="851" height="400"frameborder="0" allowvr allowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen="true" webkitallowfullscreen="true" onmousewheel="">

Making the dataset tangible could also make it accessible to people who are vision impaired.

I wanted to make software tool which could create form that would be difficult or impossible to create by traditional manufacturing procedures.

I imagine in future it would be possible to have this sculpture exhibited in always-up-to-date form. During the night it would melt and get printed again using recent data. This could be a great installation for entrance hall of an organisation or a company.

The resulting model could also be considered as a collaborative sculpture. Every visitor of the webpage contributed to the resulting shape of the object by adding tiny piece of matter to a precise location.

The model was generated by a custom made patch made in VVVV frameworks. The patch generates valid model in real-time from the provided dataset.

Prototype was printed on a MakerBot, final piece was printed with Dimension Elite.

The project was created during Generator.x 3.0 workshop led by Marius Watz, organized by iMal, which also supported production of the artwork, my presence at the workshop was supported by CIANT – International Centre for Art and New Technologies.
